It has been supported by a promotional campaign throughout November, including Gold Key Media distributing the magazine outside the Natural History Museum and the Science Museum.
BBC Earth magazine aims to inspire consumers with the most incredible pictures, stories, and characters from the natural world, connecting every man, woman, and child with the wonders of the planet. The new title will also be the go-to place for special, behind-the-scenes access to the teams and the experts who bring us closer to our natural world.
Speaking at the launch of the magazine, Nicola Murphy, CEO of The River Group, said: “I’ve always wanted to publish a magazine like BBC Earth. It is a privilege to have access to such an extraordinary wealth of BBC content, knowledge and magic and to be able to make this come to life in the pages of a beautiful new monthly title.
“The fact this marks the launch of a new partnership between The River Group and BBC Worldwide is the most exciting way to celebrate the future of our two businesses working together.”
Andrew Moultrie, Director of Consumer Products and Publishing at BBC Worldwide, added: “Our partnership between BBC Worldwide and The River Group is a great opportunity to deliver fascinating, engaging editorial content to our audiences and we are thrilled that our first launch together will be BBC Earth Magazine, adding an exciting extension to the brand.”
